1. Group of Ministers set up to make GST composition scheme more attractive today suggested lowering tax rates for manufacturers and restaurants under the plan to 1 per cent.
Manufacturers pay GST at 2 per cent, the rate for restaurants is 5 per cent. Traders currently pay 1 per cent.

2. GSTR-4 which will be used by composition scheme businesses for filing returns. The utility will be available on GSTN portal soon

3. Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) does not seem to have any official records to prove that it had authorised the issue of new currency notes in denominations of Rs 2,000 and Rs 200, after demonetisation, according to documents available through RTI.
“As per RTI replies provided by the RBI, the country’s central bank has apparently not published any Government Resolution (GR) or a circular till date to issue the new Rs 2,000 and recently, the Rs 200 currency notes,” says Mumbai-based RTI activist M.S. Roy.

1. Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said 8 lakh families of the state were benefited under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana which would cover 10 lakh more families by 2018

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Urja Ganga project in Varanasi on October 2016, announcing a gas pipeline between Odisha and Uttar Pradesh, also benefiting the states of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. This single project of over 1,500 kilometres would increase the existing Indian gas pipeline infrastructure of 15,000 kms by 10 per cent. This pipeline would have seven station cities benefiting directly from the access to gas – Varanasi, Patna, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

3. 3.94 million Indians filled the Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns for the month of September, a marginal increase from last month’s 3.76 million, but the figures are less than what was expected by the officials.

Ashwani Lohani had planned the move last summer when he was Air India chairman, but the railways had not reacted to it positively. Now the chairman of the Railway Board, Lohani+ has said he will clear the plan if AI puts it up again.

8. Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) issued a report on Diwali mentioning ambient air quality
Bhiwadi situated in Alwar, which falls in Delhi-NCR, was rated as the most polluted city. Kolkata occupies the second spot, while Agra is the third most polluted city of the country.
Bhiwadi was 425 micrograms per cubic metre. Kolkata has 358 micrograms per cubic metre while Agra recorded 332 micrograms per cubic metre of air pollution.
